Good for you.

This is a great place to live and raise a family.

St. Johnsbury’s safe, historic, walkable neighborhoods offer you and your employees all the convenience of an urban lifestyle, with the easy living of a small Vermont town. Restaurants, museums, art galleries, movie theatres, a library, schools and shopping are all a short walk from most in-town neighborhoods.

It’s rare to find a town this size with such a vibrant cultural scene. The Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium, St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, St. Johnsbury History & Heritage Center and Catamount Arts present films, live performances, natural history, science, local history and great art.

Ballet“The St. Johnsbury community offers countless opportunities for developing creative expression in both children and adults. If you want to try something new—or share what you already do—you can find a way to make it happen.”

Kim Darling, Teaching Artist and Co-owner of Gatto Nero Press

All natural. All adventure.

We are a magnet for all kinds of recreational activities. Just steps away from downtown you’ll find the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, offering 90 miles of all-season, all-sport recreation fun. Just 20 minutes to the north, you’ll find Kingdom Trails, one of the nation’s top mountain bike and winter season trail network, and Burke Mountain Resort, which beckons with a variety of downhill trails for the whole family. Jay Peak, Canon Mountain and Bretton Woods are all within an hour’s drive.

World-class educational opportunities.

We value excellence in education. The town is home to strong, vibrant grade schools and St. Johnsbury Academy, a comprehensive independent secondary school. Community College of Vermont and nearby Lyndon State College offer nationally recognized professional programs, workforce training, career readiness programs, and technical assistance for local businesses. St. Johnsbury Academy also operates an adult education center. Many of these resources can be customized to build your own workforce training program.

St.JohnsburyAcademy“Over 30 years ago, my wife and I moved to St. Johnsbury for a handful of reasons, all of which remain true today: a beautiful natural environment; a close-knit small town community; remarkable cultural institutions; excellent educational opportunities; and especially a world-class secondary school, St. Johnsbury Academy.”

Tom Lovett, Headmaster, St. Johnsbury Academy
